We say

The final artist we recommend you check out at the Great Escape Festival is Bristol-based band Make Friends. Toeing the line between buoyant indie-pop and the left-side of indie-rock since their formation, the four-piece have picked up their fair share of attention from tastemakers with the likes of Radio 1 (Introducing), 6 Music (Chris Hawkins) and Radio X (John Kennedy) championing them. DSP support has come from Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer, while Clash, Wonderland, The Rodeo Mag, The Independent and others have sung their praises. With their recent singles produced by Bombay Bicycle Club’s Ed Nash, including this gorgeous indie-pop affair with infectious off-kilter hooks, the band are readying to release their forthcoming new EP later this summer on Ignition Records. Having played a show at the Alt Escape yesterday, Make Friends will perform today at The Mesmerist (18.30) and then on the Independent’s Stage at The Old Market (21.15). If you don’t get a chance to catch them today, then they will play at the Notting Hill Arts Club on 11 July. One to watch.
